Top political adviser Wang Yang called on his colleagues to give advise on promoting high-quality development of the country's manufacturing industry during a closing ceremony of a three-day meeting.
"Manufacturing is the foundation of a strong country and the main battlefield for high-quality economic development," said Wang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference National Committee.
The CPPCC National Committee, the country's top political advisory body, held the seventh meeting of its standing committee from Monday to Wednesday in Beijing.
About 400 CPPCC members joined the meeting and discussed topics including boosting technological innovation in manufacturing and improving the quality of manufacturing.
The theme of this session reflects the CPPCC's principle of giving full play to its role as a specialized consultative body and focusing on the central tasks of the Party and the country. It also reflects the CPPCC's characteristics and advantages as an important part of China's governance system, Wang said on Wednesday.
"With the severe and complicated environment at home and abroad, it's not easy to achieve high-quality development in manufacturing, but China has a complete industrial system, a huge market and is rich in human resources," Wang said.
"In particular, China's political system has great advantages. It will surely transform pressure into a driving force and transform challenges into opportunities," he said.
Before the meeting, political advisers conducted on-the-ground research and put forward a series of constructive suggestions providing useful reference for the Party and the government to make decisions in a scientific way, Wang said.
He urged the political advisers to strengthen their sense of responsibility, continue to give full play to their strengths and give suggestions on major issues concerning high-quality development of the manufacturing industry so as to gather positive energy for building China into a stronger manufacturing nation.
The CPPCC is an important organ for political consultation under the leadership of the Communist Party of China. Members serve as advisers in government, legislatures and judiciaries, and put forward proposals on major political and social issues.
