How to pack with plastic wrap

Stretch Wrap provides a convenient and easy way to prepare your items for moving. You’re going to need large plastic wrap (anything between 15” and 22” will work fine) for furniture and other bulky pieces and small saran wrap for smaller items.

# When packing larger items, hold the large roll of plastic wrap on its ends and begin to wrap around the piece. The roll will unwrap as you move it around the item.

# When using stretch wrap for smaller items, hold the tension control handle to wrap the plastic film around the object.

Good to know: When using plastic wrap for moving furniture, you’re advised to:

Clean the furniture well and make sure it is completely dry before wrapping it for shipment;
Remove any detachable parts, such as furniture legs, door handles, glass elements, etc., and pack them separately. This will make the furniture easier to move and will reduce the risk of damage to your cherished pieces;
When packing wood or leather furniture, wrap it with paper padding or furniture pads first, then use plastic wrap to secure the protective materials in place;
Cover furniture corners and any protruding furniture parts with bubble wrap or foam sheets, then wrap over the protective padding with stretch wrap. This is the best way to prevent the corners from chipping and/or causing damage to the walls
Make sure you never use stretch wrap directly on wooden or leather furniture, as moisture may get trapped underneath the plastic material and result in mold growth, ruin the delicate polished finish of wooden pieces, or cause the leather or the wood to warp. You can safely use plastic wrap directly on fabric upholstery though as there is no risk of condensation occurring on the fabric surface.

All in all, stretch wrap is one of the most convenient and versatile packing resources you can take advantage of for your move – it will help keep your items secure and dust-free during the arduous relocation process and will ensure your peace of mind. Make sure you have it close at hand when packing!
